Earth Day activities abound in Jefferson County for the annual day of support for environmental awareness.
EARTH DAY ZOOM POETRY READING
In celebration of Earth Day and National Poetry Month, Centrum and the Northwind Reading Series are working in tandem to host a Special Earth Day Reading.
The two organizations are bringing together three poets, Samish Island poet Rob Lewis, Vashon Island poet Ann Spiers, and Suquamish indigenous poet Cedar Sigo, who will share their poetic perspectives on the earth.
Readings and discussions start at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 22. Register at surveymonkey.com/r/northwindreads to participate.
EARTH DAY AT FORT FLAGLER STATE PARK
There is no better way to celebrate Earth Day than helping to restore nature. Friends of Fort Flagler have organized a park clean-up and removal of invasive plant species.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 24, volunteers are being encouraged to sign up for a two-hour shift; bring your tools, drinking water, face masks, and gloves.
Pandemic guidelines will be followed to ensure the health and safety of all helpers.

NEW IMAGE OFFERS A TIME TO REUSE
New Image is helping celebrate Earth Day by accepting donations of women’s clothes and accessories.
Donors can benefit many while keeping their gently-used items out of landfills.
Between the hours of
10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, the shop will be collecting items at
1925 Blaine St. (Mountain View Commons) in Port Townsend.
