Food choices are many and varied. So, too, are the customers who gather at the Panda Buffet restaurant on South Columbia Road. There you find everything from lo mein noodles and egg rolls to sweet and sour chicken. There is also pies, cookies and soft serve ice cream.
Customers find ample parking behind the large restaurant which has seating for 150. These days because of the coronavirus restrictions, the seating is restricted to 120.
Inside, there’s a waterfall welcoming guests. And there is a choice of booths or tables. There is also delivery available by Door Dash or Bite Squad.
On two visits to the Panda Buffet this week, it was suppertime. I was with my granddaughter Carmen Hagerty (CH) who is a senior in Mount Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh. And she has been taking classes online in Grand Forks.
The choices seem endless at Panda Buffet. You find a wide array of rice, noodles, lo mein, sesame chicken, egg rolls. There is fruit. There is garlic bread, macaroni and cheese – and on and on you go. Sushi, coconut shrimp, chocolate pudding.
The hot food was steaming. There was pizza, salads, French fries, fried rice, chicken, broccoli and more.
There’s a chef on duty at the Mongolian grill on duty waiting to prepare raw meats and vegetables for diners. There is a staff of 13 servers — many of whom speak only Chinese. But they are quick, ready and willing to help.
Customers come with masks, and there are paper gloves available around the buffet.
