The new Disney+ series based on The Beatles arrives on the platform this week, with seven hours of facts and never-before-seen footage.
Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson created the new docu-series titled The Beatles: Get Back, which covers the making of the band's famous 1970 album Let It Be.
John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr all feature heavily in the series, while Paul, Ringo, John's wife Yoko Ono and George's wife Olivia Harrison are all credited as producers.
Here's everything you need to know—including how many episodes there are, and when they'll be available to stream.
How many episodes of The Beatles: Get Back are there and when are they released on Disney+?
The Beatles: Get Back is a three-part documentary series with each episode becoming available over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Episode 1 launched on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 25), while Episode 2 will drop on Friday November 26, and the final part, Episode 3, will arrive on Saturday November 27. Each episode becomes available from 03:00 a.m. ET and from midnight PT.
The Beatles: Get Back was originally supposed to be launched as a documentary movie in September 2020, but the release was delayed until August 2021 due to the global pandemic.
On June 17, 2021 it was announced that the project would instead be turned from a film into a three-part documentary series which will span seven hours instead.
How long are The Beatles: Get Back episodes?
As you can image, each episode of Jackson's documentary series is lengthy since the total run time is over seven hours long.
Episode 1 clocks in at 157 minutes long in total, Episode 2 is the longest at 173 minutes, while the final part of the trilogy is the shortest with a runtime of 138 minutes. Clear your schedules because in total, The Beatles: Get Back will take you 468 minutes to watch (that's a total of seven hours and 48 minutes).
The series is developed from 60 hours of restored unseen footage shot in January 1969 by Michael Lindsay-Hogg and 150 hours of unheard audio, so the total run time could have been a lot longer than seven hours if Jackson hadn't cut so much.
What is each episode of based on?
The three episodes of The Beatles: Get Back show how the band recorded their twelfth and final album Let It Be, on which the song "Get Back" features.
The Beatles: Get Back is set over the 21 days it took to record the album in the studio, and each episode covers a week each. The episode titles are: "Part 1: Days 1-7," "Part 2: Days 8-14" and "Part 3: Days 15-21."
The documentary will also feature, for the first time in its entirety, The Beatles' last live performance as a group on the rooftop on London's Savile Row.
There are also songs and compositions featured from The Beatles' penultimate album Abbey Road, which they actually recorded after Let It Be, even though it was released beforehand.
