LAFC are in the middle of their best stretch of results. After an agonizingly long winless run, the black and gold have won three straight. Today, they travel to face the always physical, Portland Timbers.
After escaping Austin with a 2-1 win last time out, LAFC now set their sights on their Western Conference foes. LAFC came into that match with a long list of missing players, but with Chicho Arango still in top form, and an emerging Danny Musovski who has an affinity for big goals, LAFC were too much for the expansion side. It’s clear to anyone watching this side that they have a renewed sense of spirit, and a fresh belief in themselves. They will need both as they face not only one of the most physical teams in the MLS, but one of the six teams fighting for one of the four playoff sports up for grabs.
For their side, the Timbers come into this one on a nice four match unbeaten run, with three wins, and a 2-2 draw their last time out. The last loss, ironically, came at the hands of Austin FC, on the road. Something LAFC will surely be keeping in mind.
LAFC welcome back Sebastien Ibeagha, who missed the last match due to yellow card accumulation. Unfortunately, the rest of the players who were out last time, remain out. Most notably, Carlos Vela (quad), and Eduard Atuesta (ankle).
The Timbers have no new injuries, but will be without Eryk Williamson (ACL), who was ruled out for the season earlier in the month.
According to our partners at DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Sunday Morning, LAFC are (+140), Portland are (+185) and a draw is (+265), meaning this one is expected to be a fairly close match, with it possibly going either way.
Sunday’s match will be televised Nationally on FS1 and FoxDeportes, which you can watch on Fubo TV. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm PT with kickoff to come at 4:55.
