Coronavirus has been diagnosed at a children’s hospital, with a child having tested positive for the virus at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
Even though authorities have said that doing so is not necessary, panic buying in the midst of the outbreak has led to a shortage in toilet paper all over the world, as the number of cases both in the UK and abroad continues to rise.
With the number of UK cases continuing to rise, here’s the latest information on how many people in the country have tested positive for coronavirus and how many people in the UK have died after being diagnosed with the virus.

The first person in the UK to die after testing positive for the virus was a woman in her 70s with underlying health conditions.
According to the Royal Berkshire NHS Trust, the patient had been ‘in and out of hospital’ previously and after being admitted to a Reading hospital on Wednesday evening, tested positive for coronavirus.
A second person, a man in his 80s, is also feared to have died from coronavirus in a Milton Keynes hospital. It’s thought that he too had underlying health conditions.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson offered his sympathy to her family, and Professor Chris Whitty, England’s chief medical officer, said he was ‘very sorry’ to share the news.
He added: ‘We believe they contracted the virus in the UK and contact tracing is already under way.’
The first UK citizen to die from the virus was a man who had been on board the previously quarantined Diamond Princess cruize ship in Japan.
According to John Hopkins University, there have been 3,398 deaths from coronavirus worldwide, and the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 100,113.
Downing Street has warned that it is ‘highly likely’ coronavirus could spread ‘in a significant way’.

Meanwhile health officials have said that people who test positive for the virus who show ‘very minimal symptoms’ should self-isolate at home, as opposed to hospital.
However, Prof Whitty added that elderly people and those with previous medical conditions – like asthma for example – should not self-isolate yet.
