Alabama has had nine players selected in the first three rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Entering Day 3, which began Saturday at 11 a.m. CT, Alabama trailed LSU by one as far as players selected from a single school this year. LSU's mark of 10 players drafted over the first three rounds tied Ohio State (2016) with the most players taken through three rounds.
However, Alabama's nine draft picks is setting a historic pace of its own.
Alabama's Nick Saban became with first coach to have a player drafted at every non-specialist position in the first round when Tua Tagovailoa was selected No. 5 overall by the Miami Dolphins.
Additionally, the Tide is threatening its personal best of 12 picks in a single draft set in 2018. Alabama's 2018 Draft class included names like defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick who was taken by Miami with the No. 11 pick; defensive lineman Da'Ron Payne drafted to Washington at No. 13; linebacker Rashaan Evans at No. 22 to the Titans; and Calvin Ridley selected by the Falcons at No. 26.
This year's draft for Alabama, measures up to a handful of others that could be considered its best. The Tide had four players selected in the first round, again, in 2020, tying the school record at four for the fifth time (2011, 2012, 2017, and 2018).
Where the 2020 draft ranks when Day 3 is finished, remains to be seen.
